Head Coach Joe Dasaro is a Grissom High School Alumni. Coach Dasaro has been the wrestling coach at Grissom for 30 years. Coach Dasaro pursued his Bachelors degree at Auburn University. Coach Dasaro has been named City Coach of the Year 17 years and State Coach of the Year 7 years since 1984. Other awards include: 1997 State Man of the Year, NFHS Southern Coach of the Year (1998, 2000), 6A State Championship teams (1989, 1990, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2002 and 2004). Coach Dasaro was also inducted into the Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008.  Coach Dasaro feels that making individuals into a team is one of the most exciting things about being involved in coaching wrestling, “I love watching as each wrestler finds their true strengths - on the mat and off.” Coach Dasaro says that the biggest reward for dedicating his life to this sport is, “...the wrestlers that come back year after year, the cards from the ones that can’t and all the help from those established in our community.” Most precious to Coach’s life are his three children, Katie, Stephen and Maddie.

Chris Brinkley Coach Brinkley is in his first year as the JV/Freshman wrestling coach at Grissom, where he also coaches Freshman Football. Coach Brinkley began his wrestling career in high school at Kecoughtan in Hampton Virginia. He wrestled two years at 185 lbs and two years at Hwt. He was a member of the PWA Freestyle and Greco-Roman teams as well as a member of the Virginia State Freestyle and Greco-Roman teams. After high school Coach Brinkley began his collegiate studies at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. He was an assistant wrestling coach for three years and football for four years at his high school alma mater. He left Virginia to head to Maryland and a job with Young Life. While in Maryland he coached JV football and was an assistant wrestling coach at Kent County High School. Coach Brinkley then journey to Huntsville where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education. He went to work for a local church for several years while obtaining a Master’s Degree in Christian Thought. He has been employed as a teacher in the Huntsville City Schools for the last five years. He taught for three years at the Fletcher E. Seldon Center before being transferred to Grissom High School. Coach Brinkley has been married to his wonderful wife, Trisha for almost 13 years. They have two wonderful boys, Kaleb (9) and Elijah (4). “I hope to mentor young men to be contributors to the storied Grissom wrestling program and to the community at large.”
